Here in Bend, we have a Christmas Parade, it’s the largest in Central Oregon and this year (2019) there were over 100 floats! Covered by all the news crews, who were also in the parade with their fleet vans, it was a wonderful time! The weather held, cloudy but mild (mid 40’s) and everyone was very festive.
The Bend Christmas Parade starts after a Jingle Bell 5k run (though this year it was a walk – icy streets I think after the snow fall last week, and it’s still hanging around) and the Parade always starts at 12 noon, crossing the Newport Ave Bridge – http://bendchristmasparade.org/parade-map/ – and on down NW Wall Street (the announcers are outside the Tower Theatre on NW WALL) along Drake Park and ending at the corner of NW Harmon.
There are a lot of horses, all dressed up, the local services – Fire, Trash, Police, Veterinary, retirement homes etc., represented along with the High Schools marching bands, boy and girl scouts, local businesses and of course Santa!
It’s a true parade for a small town in every sense of the word, and a MUST if you are visiting or now live here!
